Everything Daredevil is great right now, as Marvel prepares for the upcoming release of the highly anticipated series along with DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN. There’s a whole lot to be excited about in DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL, as not only is it Charles Soule’s return to Daredevil, but it will also be Steve McNiven’s return to Marvel for the first time for a major run in a decade.
Now, Marvel has released all the variant covers for the upcoming three-issue series hitting comic shops on April 2nd. Soule’s Muse, from his 2015 run, will be a featured villain in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again TV show. Meanwhile, Niven’s artwork in Old Man Logan is highly considered one of the best and influential to the past movie, Logan.
In DAREDEVIL: COLD DAY IN HELL, a grizzled, older, and virtually powerless Matt Murdock takes center in an entirely different world, with heroes no longer operating. In this world, given that radioactivity fades, so too did Matt’s powers. But when a catastrophe miraculously restores his enhanced senses, he’s able to take the fight to where it matters most as DAREDEVIL… but for how long, and will it be in time? Is the ticking time bomb driving the limited issue run.
“This book was extremely collaborative in a way that was a bit of an experiment for us, a back and forth discussion as scripts and inks and dialogue and colors came in throughout, and I think people are going to see that on the page,” Soule told IGN in a recent interview. “Steve called it ‘jazz’ at one point, and I don’t think that’s so far off. I’m really proud of all the work I’ve done with Steve, but this one really stands out.”
“This is definitely a story that fits in with all of the other things Charles and I have collaborated on over the years, and is probably the most ambitious,” McNiven added. “A unique type of work that could only happen after years of working together and trusting each other’s abilities.”
