It’s hard to believe that we’re finally here because it’s been the most excruciating hiatus in TV history.

During Netflix’s star-studded Tudum event on Saturday evening, the streaming platform announced the premiere date and rollout strategy for Stranger Things Season 5.

In a controversial move, the eight-episode season will premiere in three volumes.

Volume 1 will premiere on November 26, with Volume 2 following on Christmas Day, followed by the series finale on New Year’s Eve.

What’s more, all three releases will be at 5 p.m. PT in yet another shift from the midnight releases of seasons past.

Given the magnitude of success Stranger Things has achieved, splitting up the final season across a month is a decent idea to keep the momentum going.

Stranger Things Season 5 Has a Great Rollout Strategy

Stranger Things Season 4 aired in two parts, so the cadence isn’t too much of a surprise.

Far too often, streaming releases come and go in one weekend, and the conversation dies down, so it will be interesting to see the show be the talk of the town for a whole month for its last hurrah.

The first teaser trailer also dropped, showcasing new conflicts for the Hawkins teenagers, who have grown up considerably since Stranger Things Season 4 Episode 9.

There’s no telling whether there will be a time jump of some sort, but there has to be.

Hawkins was pretty much at death’s door back in 2022 when the previous season concluded, thanks to a ripple of hellfire from the Upside Down.

Now that the show is wrapping up, the stakes have never been higher, and it sure looks like things will be coming full circle.

We see Will telling people to “run,” indicating that he’s still linked to Vecna when the final episodes air.

As expected, the first footage doesn’t offer an update on Max, whose fate was left up in the air at the end of Stranger Things Season 4.

There’s a lot of ground to cover in the final season, so hopefully the rumors are true that each episode will be movie-length.
