It’s almost time for High Potential Season 2, and we can’t wait to see what happens with Morgan Gillory (Kaitlin Olson) and Adam Karadec (Daniel Sunjata) as they work more cases.
High Potential Season 1 gave us plenty of moments between the two that had us wondering whether the writers were planning to pair them together or keep their working relationship (dare we say, budding friendship?) platonic.
They started off on the wrong foot on High Potential Season 1 Episode 1 as Morgan’s chaotic life turned Karadec’s by-the-book world upside down.
She is all over the place while working, and he is distracted by her, leaving him struggling to stay focused. It’s actually quite funny, and it gives off the “he’s interested” vibes.
However, moving the show into a more romantic territory could derail it and what we have come to love about it.

And, let’s be honest, we don’t need another great show canceled by a network before it even really gets off the ground.
Let’s Not Pair Morgan and Karadec
Listen, I know it would be a huge hit among viewers if the quirky, beautiful, chaotic mom falls in love with the uptight, by-the-book, good-looking detective, but is it necessary?
Right now, things work for the flow of the show, and if the writers choose to pair the two together, what would happen if (and we think when) Roman returns?

Morgan has been holding out hope that Roman didn’t just walk away from her and her daughter. While she has moved on with her life, there’s a part of her that still loves him.
Karadec has loosened up in his relationship with Morgan. He has learned to see through the chaos and quirks and view the person she is at her core, and we love that.
But, it could backfire and lead the series into a corner, essentially ruining the direction and backing everything into a corner.
If High Potential Wants to Continue, Morgan and Karadec Need to Stay Platonic
Why mess things up? Network TV is finicky these days.

Gone are the days when millions of viewers tuned into the TV set at night to see what happens next, and now everyone waits for things to stream to binge at once.
High Potential grabbed viewers’ attention, and things seem to be going well ahead of Season 2.
Changing up their dynamic could derail the storylines, especially because the format from Season 1 already works.
There is an entire season order for High Potential, giving us more episodes than Season 1.

With Morgan in the know about Roman and the possibility that he could be alive and living under an alias, we suspect that will be her focus.
We know there is chemistry between Morgan and Karadec, but adding that to the already large plate of emotions Morgan carries will make things murky.
The simplistic format of learning about the characters’ private lives and solving a case in one episode is something that works.
Adding a love story that isn’t necessary and lacks historical context won’t work.

Well, it may be wrong for a short time, but given the state of Network TV and the way cancellations have been coming, it could be the series ending we didn’t want.
