More excitement!
I love seeing a novel pre-release getting all the adaptation excitement. In November, Marisa Kashino’s Best Offer Wins will be released. It’s billed as having dark humor and being about obsession and the housing market. It was already high on my TBR list, and now it’s been announced that Greta Lee will executive produce (and most likely star in) the adapted series for Hulu! Looking for some Latine mysteries?
Vanessa Diaz has a range of great options: “Today I have one for true crime lovers about a woman leading a double life in Texas and Mexico City, a series starter for foodies starring a food anthropologist, a coming-of-age noir set in Baja California in 1979, and more.” (¿Quien Fue? 6 Mysteries and Thrillers by Latine Authors)
WSJ’s best mysteries of the past 25 years!
I can absolutely confirm that if you’ve yet to read Attica Locke’s Bluebird, Bluebird, you should drop everything and go read it. I spotted quite a few of my favorite authors on the list and found some books to add to my TBR: The 25 Best Mystery Novels of the Past 25 Years
More creepy and kooky!
Ahead of its August 6th season 2 premiere, Netflix has renewed Wednesday for a third season. The murder-mystery series, starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, had a popular release in 2022, and fans have been highly anticipating the second season, so it’s nice to know that there will be a third. (Wednesday Season 3 Will Officially Return to Haunt You)
Agatha Christie will be sleuthing in a new series!
With all the Christie adaptations that already exist, this sounds like a fun, slightly new approach: “Produced by BBC Studios Drama Productions, the show is understood to be taking a ‘mystery-of-the-week’ style approach with fictional versions of Christie, Sayers and Chesterton set as the main characters solving crimes each episode.” (Agatha Christie To Be Fictionalized In TV Series For BBC & BritBox About Mysterious Society Of Crime Writers)
