This dystopian thriller is based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King. Set in a dystopian version of the United States, which is ruled by a totalitarian regime (wait… is this nonfiction?), this is the story of a group of young men who join a walking competition. This film is directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, Mark Hamill, Charlie Plummer, Roman Griffin Davis, Garrett Wareing, Tut Nyuot, Ben Wang, Jordan Gonzalez, Joshua Odjick, and Josh Hamilton.

Lots of adaptations of works written by men this month, friends! And while we’re excited about these movies and TV shows, we can’t help but want more stories from female voices. Some of our favorites so far this year? The latest season of The Summer I Turned Pretty, Netflix’s adaptation of Forever, the limited series The Better Sister, and Long Bright River. What has been your favorite adaptation this year?
