Zainab Akhtar‘s annual ShortBox Comics Fair, an all-digital, indie comics convention, launches tomorrow, October 1st, 2025. The convention runs through the month of October, running until Halloween. Featuring over 100 comics creators, the event helps connect independent artists with new readers.

Per the event’s website, “The aim of the fair is to serve as a creative impetus for artists to make something new; to provide a platform for fresh and unique independent comics, all gathered in one place; and to connect readers with an array of work diverse in style and approach.”

The ShortBox Comics Fair opens at 8am (UK time) October 1st and closes at 8pm (UK time) October 31st, with comics available on the event’s website. The sales are licensed only through the month, and delivered digitally.

Over at the ShortBox Comics Fair Instagram account, you can see a series of previews of the comics in questions, spotlighting creators who will participate in the annual event. You can check out a couple of them below.

The creators get most of the proceeds from the sales, which will be sold as downloadable digital comics rather than hosted on a website. Customers will get a link to download upon purchase.

There are no “table fee” Fair costs for artists, and in 2023, the fair reportedly generated $400,000 in sales.
