Why have one complicated potential antagonist when you can have two?!

If you were one of the many Doc fans who feared that we wouldn’t get to see Scott Wolf’s Richard Miller again, then allow us to put you at ease!

Dr. Richard Miller is returning to Westside, and his story isn’t over!

When we last saw things, Amy was able to confront Miller about his lying, deception, and framing her for the death of his patient, whom he had made a deadly mistake on when administering the wrong drug.

After a season of him gaslighting Amy to keep her doubting her own mind and doing everything to hide his wrongdoing, the board showed Miller the door.

But doors are revolving in the land of television, and it’s evident that his story isn’t over yet.

Later in the season, we don’t have specific dates or episode numbers, but the accomplished Scott Wolf will reprise his role as the complicated family man who shook things up and posed a real threat to Amy.

We can anticipate a multi-episode arc for him, which is interesting because it’s doubtful that he’d still be able to practice again, right?

I’m curious to know the context behind his return, and if it’ll be formal and professional, or something more personal, as Doc is brilliant at achieving.

Of course, we also can never rule out flashbacks as Amy continues to regain pieces of her memory to fill in the blanks about her life that she lost pre-accident.

Also, is it possible that Richard Miller and Joan Ridley are connected somehow?

As you can see, the possibilities are endless when it comes to this character and why he could return!

In addition to guest-starring, we have also learned that Scott Wolf will take a spin in the director’s chair. The talented actor will take on the challenge of directing an episode in one of the early 2026 episodes.

As a long-time television viewer, one of the most exciting aspects of behind-the-scenes work is when an actor takes on a new role behind the camera. Personally, I feel like their experience in front of the cameras makes them incredibly adept at directing from behind it, and it’s always fun to see someone take on that new role.

Wolf appeared in ten episodes during Doc Season 1, and we learned that he served as an antagonist for Amy, but as usual with this series, it was more layered than it seemed at first.

The character had some depth and complexity to him that made him more sympathetic and well-rounded.

It didn’t seem like his story was over, and now, we know that it isn’t, but with the addition of Felicity Huffman’s Joan Ridley, one wonders how Miller will factor into things.

Tonight, in an all-new episode, we’ll finally be introduced to Joan Ridley, and we’ll get our first look at her dynamic with Amy and the integral role she may or may not have played in Amy’s life, both personally and professionally.

So, don’t forget to return to TV Fanatic after the episode drops for a full recap and analytical review unpacking all the events of the episode! As always, we have you covered!
