5 Questions Euphoria Season 3 Need To Address

It’s been about 4 years since the last season of Euphoria, and finally, this YA drama series is coming back!

In HBO’s recent announcement of its upcoming slate, the network confirmed Euphoria Season 3 will be released in 2026 spring.

Additionally, HBO released new photos of the characters and confirmed which characters will return and which will not.

Even though it’s been a long time, Euphoria Season 2 left us hanging with questions about the characters’ futures and lives beyond high school.

From addressing cast absences to tying up messy romances, here are five plotlines Euphoria Season 3 needs to give a resolution to.

1. What Happened to Fez and Ashtray?

On the most recent episode of Euphoria Season 2 Episode 8, the implied ending for Fez and Ashtray is that Ashtray survived the raid, but Fez did not.

In light of Fez’s actor, Angus Cloud, passing away in 2023, it would make sense for the show to acknowledge his death.

In addition to Cloud’s closeness with the cast, Fez had a prominent friendship with Rue, the series’ main character.

So, it will be interesting to see how Euphoria handles Fez’s presumed death and does justice to paying tribute to Cloud.

Additionally, it doesn’t seem like Ashtray will be returning in a recurring role, even if he survived the ending of Season 2.

Hopefully, this drama will also explain what happened to Ashtray and where he is.

2. What Role Will Elliot Play in the Show?

One of the central characters in Euphoria Season 2 was Elliot, played by Dominic Fike.

Fike recently confirmed he will return to this role for the upcoming season, though he said he had filmed only a few scenes.

In all fairness, he didn’t necessarily have a pivotal role, but he had a significant influence on Rue’s character.

Given that Elliot had a ton of screen time in Season 2, it will be interesting to see how the show handles his character’s future, as it seems like he’s slowly being phased out.

3. Are Rue and Jules Endgame?

Out of all the queer couples in the YA drama genre in recent years, Rue and Jules have easily been one of the most iconic.

But compared to most relationships on TV, their relationship has experienced a lot of ups and downs because of Rue’s drug addiction.

Even though Rue and Jules seemed to be going steady in Euphoria Season 1, they seemed to somewhat split up in Season 2.

But now that Elliot might be out of the picture, could it be possible that Rue and Jules might give each other another chance?

If not, it’ll be intriguing to see how Euphoria gives the two girls closure after their deep history together.

I’m personally team Rue and Jules endgame, but their story can go anywhere!

4. Where Did Kat Go?

After all the controversy about on-set drama, Barbie Ferreria’s exit from the show isn’t a shock.

But Ferreria’s leaving means Kat likely won’t be in the new season, marking yet another noticeable absence from the ensemble.

The show announced the addition of new cast members but hasn’t yet revealed their roles.

Will any of the fresh faces serve as a replacement for Kat’s character?

And more importantly, we will have to wait and see how the show explains why Kat doesn’t appear.

5. Has Lexi Found Success in Writing?

(Eddy Chen/HBO)

On the explosive Season 2 finale, Lexi unveiled the school play she wrote about her fellow classmates to a packed audience.

The new photo of Lexi seems to show her working on a movie set.

So, even though her play may have upset her friends, it appears to have launched her into potential stardom.

Is it possible that her artistic career has taken off, and she is now thriving in Hollywood?

If this is the case, how will her life continue to connect to those of her high school classmates?

The wait for Euphoria’s return in 2026 will be long, as we eagerly await answers to these questions.

That concludes our list of plotlines we’re hoping this show will address!
