Industry’s Season 4 Trailer Teases a Ruthless, Twisted Harper vs. Yasmin Power Play (and We’re Seated)

The girls are fighting again, but isn’t that how we like them best?

The Industry Season 4 trailer is practically Shakespearean, but then, that’s the nature of the series as it is, or the beast for that matter.

Relentless pursuit of power, wealth, and recognition are all on full display as some of television’s most sinister, or perhaps most brutally honest characters, come together for another season that will have our collective heads spinning.

Harper Stern is BACK, Put Some Respect on Her Name

One of the pitfalls of Industry Season 3 was just how much it sidelined Industry’s strongest character.

If you ask just about anyone what Industry as a series is synonymous with, the answer, my friends, is Harper mother-f*cking Stern.

She is quite simply, everything!

But it felt like the previous season pushed her to the fringes, as it ran amok with much of Yasmin’s own power plays, including the elaborate events surrounding her father’s death and her convoluted relationship with Sir Henry Muck.

Fortunately for us, the official trailer suggests that they’ve rectified this situation. Harper is front and center, and she’s running full speed ahead, more ruthless and ambitious than ever. And it’s glorious!

There’s a shot of her waltzing into the room, regal and badass as hell in a blue-gray powersuit, and she owns the room. She commands your attention. And that’s Harper in her quintessence.

Fascinatingly, the upcoming season will have Harper and Eric working alongside one another yet again, it seems.

They’ve always been two sides of the same coin, a monster and his fledgling, except now there’s not much of a question of who holds the most power between them.

At the moment, they could potentially be on equal standing. Still, we also know that, as much as they seem to respect one another, and there’s genuinely a thin line between respect and hate, they are also rarely allies without also plotting against each other, too.

Harper and Eric: A Devilishly Dynamic Duo

Nevertheless, as one of the most compelling and deeply layered dynamics on this series, it’s already exciting to see the two sharing the same space and potentially the same goals for now.

It’s Eric who we hear saying, “We might be standing on the verge of something great. But the work is ugly. It’s anti-status quo. Anti-establishment, anti-power,” as he presumably spins his web trying to lure his most formidable mentee, a proverbial apple to his eye, into something bigger than themselves.

“Which part of that is meant to be a problem for us?” Harper quips back without so much as blinking.

Correct answer, baby!

It immediately leads into what Yasmin and Henry are doing. The synopsis for the season teases that Harper and Yasmin will be in a high-stakes power play when a new tech company bursts onto the scene.

All Hail the Queen, a Power Couple in Name Only

(Simon Ridgway/HBO)

It appears that Yasmin and Henry are aligning themselves with the powerful tech industry, but it’s in direct opposition to Harper, who may be hellbent on destroying it.

Naturally, it leaves the sometimes friends, rivals, and enemies at odds yet again in a masterful game of power, betrayal, and one-upmanship as both women are willing to claw their way to the top by any means necessary.

Partnership is crucial in the land of Industry. Any ally may be a foe one minute and the reverse the next, and with new players, the intrigue only builds tenfold.

Yasmin has all of her bets in her wealthy but disturbed husband. Kit Harington did wonders as the depraved and broken Sir Henry Muck during Industry Season 3, but admittedly, my feelings are mixed about seeing the return of this character.

However, it already seems that Yasmin is giving him a run for his money in all the ways possible. At one point, we hear him asking,” Who the fuck did I marry?” And she responds with “Shouldn’t you know that, darling?”

Who Did Henry Marry? Oh, Bless His Heart, He Doesn’t Know

Henry simply is not prepared for the full breadth of Yasmin without anything holding her back, and it becomes increasingly evident in the sex-fueled, drug-heavy, and seedy trailer.

It seems Henry will align himself with the newcomer and tech owner Whitney Halberstram. He’s part of a company called Tender, which he feels is a “bank killer,” and he seeks Henry out as a partner in this endeavor.

Naturally, this would put anyone who aligns with Whitney at odds with those like Harper and Eric, who have clawed their way up in this industry against all odds and will be damned before they let anyone else ruin that for them.

We hear Yasmin with some particularly ruthless bangers about her viewpoint on the world, suggesting she is a wolf in a world full of sheep and willing to take full advantage.

“Access changes people’s lives, levels them up,” Yasmin says at one point. “The world is not exploitation or opportunity, it’s both/and,” she says at another.

Yasmin Versus Whitney Grappling for Control? Yes, Please

(Simon Ridgway/HBO)

Yasmin is savage, probably more than we’ve seen from her in the series yet, a nod to her evolution as a character, which makes her going up against Harper particularly intriguing.

As for Harper, we see a reporter reaching out to her about Tender, which may spark her desire to take down the company, as there apparently is more behind the facade.

But Yasmin and Henry will not let that happen. Harper has some interesting allies in the mix, while Yasmin appears to be potentially fighting for control over her own husband with Whitney.

Yasmin may be losing control over him. We hear her telling someone, “The world will own you if you don’t harden up,” which could very well be directed at her husband, who is “softer” than she is.

And he certainly makes a show at one point of declaring that “I think you want me out of control because that’s how you’re necessary.”

Between Harper and Yasmin, Who’s Taking It? Place Your Bets

(Simon Ridgway/HBO)

It certainly seems like something he’d direct toward Yasmin, and coupled with some deeply frustrated moments from both of them, it’s evident that the honeymoon phase is over between this power couple.

At one point, Yasmin walks in on a potentially intimate moment between the two when Whitney tells Henry that they’re “Under siege. We ride together. We die together.”

OK, Mr. Fast and Furious, sure!

But are WE prepared for this ride? Probably not, but I’m buckling my seatbelt and enjoying every second of it regardless.

The final moment of the trailer has Harper calmly and confidently telling Yasmin, “You should get out before the end.”

But Yasmin responds, “Whose end?” with just as much confidence.

These two ladies are about to destroy everything around them, each other, and our emotions in the process, and it’s going to be fantastic! Let’s go!
