Yesterday, Marvel Comics announced their latest book in the Predator Vs. comics with PREDATOR VS. SPIDER-MAN. Written by Benjamin Percy with art by Marcelo Ferreira, the trend continues after PREDATOR VS BLACK PANTHER and PREDATOR VS WOLVERINE, plus on the opposite end, the popular books ALIENS VS. AVENGERS, all of which used the line’s acquired 20th Century Fox IP.
The premise for PREDATOR VS. SPIDER-MAN is pretty straightforward: a heatwave in NYC causes a blackout that raises tensions across the city. While Spider-Man goes on patrol outside on an excruciatingly hot day, a lone wolf predator with no clan or honor known as “Skinner” lurks in the sewers and subways, and it’s thirsty for blood.
“Spider-Man is at the top of every writer’s wishlist. I’m thrilled and grateful to get this opportunity, putting this beloved webslinger against the galaxy’s greatest hunters in the urban wilderness of New York,” Percy said. “It’s so much fun to live in Peter Parker’s world — and to put my own wild spin on his relationship with MJ, Jonah Jameson, and (yes — oh, hell yes) Kraven. Marcelo Ferreira captures the visual dynamism of Spidey so well, and we’ve had a lot of fun designing a Predator that is unlike any other. This Yautja — who we’re calling Skinner — has no code or clan. He’s the perfect nightmarish foil to the big-hearted Parker.”
The comic will be a four-issue limited and will see the Wall-Crawler battle against a brutal new Predator named “Skinner”. The comic will mark Skinner’s debut in what’s promising to be a visceral battle.
