Iran is the main source of Middle East instability, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Sunday night as G7 leaders gathered in Canada.
“Israel has the right to defend itself [and] Iran is the principal source of regional instability,” she said.
The G7 meeting would address the Iran and Israel war, von der Leyen said.
“We’re following with deep concern the situation, following Israel’s strikes on Iran and the Iranian response,” she said on Sunday at the G7 in Kananaskis, in Canada’s Alberta province.
Von der Leyen said she spoke with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday and linked Iran’s military support to Russia’s conflict in Ukraine.
