The film trilogy, Providence Falls, has fascinated fans with its romantic mystery event series on the Hallmark Channel.

It’s adapted from best-selling author Jude Deveraux and Tara Sheets and details Liam O’ Connor’s journey to the present time as he evolves into a better person, but Cora McLeod still holds his heart.

While the love triangle holds massive appeal, Suzette, played by Felicia Simone, has become a fan favorite, mainly because she’s such a wonderful wing woman.

She’s loyal to Cora and supports Liam in his antics. Not to mention, Suzette and Finn share amazing chemistry.

TV Fanatic chatted with Felicia Simone about being Cora and Liam’s wing woman, her chemistry with Evan Roderick (Finn Walsh), and her future projects.

Check out the interview below.

Hi Felicia. I love Providence Falls.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying them. They’re exciting.

You starred in other Hallmark films. How has Providence Falls differed from those projects?

Quite a bit. I’ve done a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies, including Three Wise Men and a Baby and Three Wiser Men and a Boy.

(Hallmark Channel/Screenshot)

Those were light, fun, and lots of comedy. Providence Falls has a lot going on. You have your romance and your mystery.

It’s a little spicier as well. There are quite a few kisses in there, so that’s always nice to see.

I love the romance and mystery. So, Suzette has become a fan-favorite since she’s such a loyal wing woman.

Yes, that’s lovely to hear, but yes, she’s a wing woman. She wants the best for Cora.

I love seeing her with both Liam and Finn, too. She’s been an all-around wing woman. I’ve seen lots of comments on social media about how much everybody likes her.

(Steffan Hill/Hallmark Media)

That’s lovely to hear. It’s a lot of fun in any best friend scenario. Choosing between Liam and Finn is a fantastic choice.

They’re so different. So, Suzette has a great time talking to Cora about that and getting all the tea.

What has been your favorite part of her character?

I love Suzette’s confidence. One of my favorite scenes was getting into the bar when I sneaked us in. It’s something I wouldn’t do personally.

I wish I had Suzette’s confidence, but that was a lot of fun to play. You know, seeing Finn in that element, the other side to his character, and the cute sneakiness of getting Cora into the bar.

That was one of my favorites, too. I commented on social media how we all needed a wing woman like Suzette during that scene.

I need to see that to get me into clubs like that.

(Reckless Pictures/Hallmark Media)

I agree. It was entertaining. At the end of Providence Falls: The Impossible Promise, we learned that Suzette was working with Bael. Can you tease anything about how she got into this predicament?

In Providence Falls Part 3, everything unfolds. At the end of the cliffhanger in Providence Falls: The Impossible Promise, Suzette’s expression is a bit unreadable. She doesn’t necessarily look happy when she’s reporting back to Bael about Cora and her romantic situation.

All I can tease is that many difficult choices are made with all the characters, but especially with Suzette. This was a struggle for her. And then you’ll find out why she’s in this predicament with Bael.

Nobody predicted that she would be the accomplice. Everybody thought it was Magnus.

Very valid. Magnus looks a little suspicious, but that was fun, too. The table read was entertaining, seeing people’s reactions, even my response. It’s been fun to see the audience reaction with Suzette and that connection.

Many fans love Suzette and Finn’s relationship. Would you like to see them get together romantically in Providence Falls: Thief of Fate?

(Reckless Pictures/Hallmark Media)

Finn Walsh, the character, is a great guy. Evan Roderick is also a fantastic person. I feel like Suzette deserves love, and she doesn’t necessarily feel that. I know there’s a lot of guilt.

So, overall, Suzette deserves a relationship. She deserves to feel loved. Hopefully, that gets explored in the third film.

You and Evan seem to have a nice, easy connection.

Yes, absolutely. Evan was so much fun to work with. Um, even just like, chilling off set. Our banter, our conversation. He’s so talented, too, and effortlessly charming. So, it was easy working with him in the scenes as well.

What three words would you use to describe the final film of Providence Falls?

If I could do a mini sentence, I would say love is complicated.

I know you have a lot of other projects besides Providence Falls. Tell me about some of those.

I can’t say the name of one of them, but I will be back with Hallmark, so I’m always grateful to work with them. I’m working on a project with them and also on my personal project. I have a TV series in the works.

(Ashley Ross Studios)

The name is Dating App Chronicles. So, it follows a millennial woman who is navigating love and relationships, as well as toxic coping mechanisms, in a new city after a breakup.

It’s a romantic dramedy, and there are many relatable situations in that series when it comes to dating and dating apps and even platonic relationships and finding connection in this digital age, which I feel like a lot of people are having trouble doing.

It’s exploring that through comedy. And then, of course, we have serious themes in there as well.

Has that been picked up?

I received a grant to produce the pilot episode. So right now, it’s in the pitching phase, so that you can follow the journey in the series on the Instagram Dating App Chronicles. We’re looking for a streaming service. So, crossing fingers, it gets picked up very soon.

It sounds like a lot of fun and very relatable.

Definitely relatable. Thank you. It was fun to write and talk to so many people and hear their stories. The minute they hear about dating apps, they say, “Oh my goodness, I have this story and I have that story,” and share entertaining stuff.

(Ashley Ross Studios)

So just hearing the reaction before it’s even been released has been fascinating. So, I’m excited to share it with people and have them enjoy the stories through the characters.

Yes, I agree it sounds modern. I think people will enjoy it.

Absolutely. Thank you. People are meeting online more often, which is difficult because your online persona differs from your in-person self. I’ve experienced that personally. Talking to someone online is fantastic.

Then you meet them, and the connection isn’t there. It’s a lot of trial and error. But in this day and age, that’s how everyone’s doing it. So, I had to write a story about it.

I’m also doing an indie comedy project, which I can’t talk about either. Still, I’m very excited for that because it involves a lot of improv, and I love improv comedy.

I haven’t done it in a little while, but as actors, it’s fun to play and have that freedom on set and work off the energy of your other scene partner. So, I’m excited about that.

(Reckless Pictures/Hallmark Media)

Who would you say is one of your acting inspirations?

Issa Rae. It was inspiring to watch her project Awkward Black Girl form into HBO’s Insecure. There are many dating and interesting interactions in that series. So very relatable.

She’s an actress and producer, and her journey is inspiring, as she paved the way for many indie creators.

She works both sides, and so do I, and I would love to work with her.

Wrapping up, we’re excited to see you in Providence Falls this weekend and to hear you have even more Hallmark projects.

(Reckless Pictures/Hallmark Media)

Oh, thank you so much. It’s so much fun. I love the stories.

Providence Falls: Thief of Fate airs Saturday, August 16, at 8/7c on the Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.
