Maybe you had to be there for the exploits of Evel Knievel, but the 70s daredevil who rode around on motorcycles jumping over canyons and other things was a larger than life figure whose deeds translate easily to comics.
Knieval – born Robert Craig Knievel – is getting a series of bio comic from Half Evil Comics, written by Ringo Award-winning writer Rylend Grant (THE JUMP and THE PEACEKEEPERS), artist Dave Acosta (TERRORWAR, ELVIRA, and DRAGON), Letterer HdE, and editor R.E. Nelson, with covers by Ray-Anthony Height, Flops, Jon Pinto, and Fabio Alves. Each issue will spotlight a spectacular stunt from Knieval’s stranger-than-fiction life.
The series is being done with the full cooperation of the Evel Knievel Brand, Kelly Knievel (Evel’s son), and the Evel Knievel Museum.
To celebrate the comics series and Knievel’s be-caped, be-flared, state fair appearin’ career, the kickstarter perks include vintage posters of the era recreated by comics artists. Truly the don’t make hype the way they used to.
