There is no disaster that 9-1-1 cannot tackle.

If you thought a cruise ship disaster was too insane, or a tsunami taking out the Santa Monica pier was the extent of the wickedly creative mind of the 9-1-1 team, then you weren’t thinking big enough.

9-1-1 Season 9 is about to take us to places we’ve never been before on this series; we’re going to space, y’all!

Athena is in the Center of the Action

With one week to go until the season premiere, the official 9-1-1 trailer has dropped, and it is HEAVY on the space exploration gone wrong that looks to dominate the early part of the ninth season.

Like most trailers, you get a real feel for how the season is set to begin, and it’s evident that this will be an emergency that will span over a couple of episodes, which has been par for the course with opening emergencies.

It’s also been par for the course for Athena to be right smack in the middle of the action, and that looks to be the case here.

With Athena and Hen headed off into space, that leaves the 118 as the team on the ground trying to figure out how they can tend to Los Angeles, as well as work to save their people when a storm throws everything into chaos.

Billionaires and Ripped from the Headlines Adventures Promise Zany Fun

There’s a lot to unpack from the first minutes of the season being released into the wild, from the ripped-from-the-headlines space exploration to Athena’s apparent new digs, Harry riding along with the 118, and debris falling from the sky in the most dramatic of ways.

There’s also Mark Consuelos, guest-starring as billionaire Trip Houser, as a whale swallows him up whole while he’s leisurely taking a little paddle!

Leave it to 9-1-1 to transform the ridiculous into some mesmerizing television!

Now in its ninth season, the series is entering new territory after the events of 9-1-1 Season 8, but the trailer makes it clear that this will be the same old 9-1-1 that we’ve come to love over the years.

It will always mix the zany with the emotional, and give us the kind of action pieces you don’t typically get on broadcast television.

The Trailer Doesn’t Acknowledge Bobby’s Loss, but It Certainly Will Linger Throughout the Season

Coming into this season, we’re expecting a lot of emotions following the passing of Bobby Nash.

While the trailer doesn’t directly address that loss in this first look, we can anticipate that the season will heavily feature it throughout.

9-1-1 is entering new territory and new atmospheres in the latest season, and we are very much ready to see what this latest version of the series has in store for us.

Will it be out of this world?
