Matt Kindt and Brian Hurtt’s Fort Psycho series has gained a new cover artist: Lewis LaRoca. Today, The Beat can exclusively reveal LaRoca’s cover for Fort Psycho #1, which hits shelves in August via Kindt’s Oni Press imprint, Flux House.
Here’s the series synopsis:
Ten years ago, the nation of Singapore sank into the Pacific Ocean. The underground terrorist network known as The Seven Seals took credit for the largest act of terror in human history. In the aftermath, the United Nations created a strike team of highly trained covert operatives with one mission: locate, identify, and eliminate The Seven Seals’ secretive leader. The team’s clandestine affairs were to always remain in the shadows—until their final, explosive confrontation with The Seven Seals resulted in a large-scale tragedy too bloody to cover up and too tragic to ignore.
Disgraced and disavowed by the governments that trained them, the world’s most dangerous secret agents have been convicted for their crimes and sentenced to serve time side-by-side in the one place capable of holding them: their old island headquarters, Fort Cyclone—now known in the media by the derogatory nickname “Fort Psycho.” And that’s where the official story is about to go terribly, terribly wrong.
Who will live? Who will die? And where do they keep getting all that ammo? MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE meets LOST on a tropical island paradise stocked with trained killers, secret betrayals, and the long-buried truth about the mission that brought them there when Fort Psycho #1 (of 12) comes barrelling into stories in August 2026!
LaRosa will contribute covers for all 12 planned issues of the series. In addition to his color covers, his black-and-white artwork will additionally be available as incentive covers for issues #1-12.
“Talk about the perfect fusion of talent and concept… With Fort Psycho, Matt Kindt and Brian Hurtt are working up a ticking time bomb of guns-blazing, friend-against-foe intrigue with a cast of dozens and even more casualties strewn across the first issue,” said Oni Press president and publisher Hunter Gorinson.
“Now, it’s an immense honor to welcome the colossally talented and always on-target Lewis LaRosa onto the series for first long-term cover commitment for Oni Press and Flux House—an addition that takes series formidable to outright explosive,” Gorinson continued. “There are many books I’m proud to publish at Oni, but this one just may be the one that makes me the most irrationally excited—and it’s no exaggeration to call it the work of Matt and Brian’s career. August can’t come quick enough!”
