Industry’s Party Isn’t Over Yet — YasHarper’s Reign Extends to a Fifth and Final Season

It’s gearing up for Harper and Yasmin to be the last women standing.

But ahead of what will surely be the most epic season finale on Sunday, we have the official confirmation that Industry is returning for a fifth and final season.

As one of cable’s most criminally underrated series airing, this is delightful news for a plethora of reasons.

Can we take a moment to celebrate a series and its creators for knowing when to end on a high note?

For the fortunate few who actually can survive the cancellation bear and wielding axes these days, who have television series often feeling like they’re embarking on some quest in Squid Games, many shows never know when to call it quits.

All good things must come to an end, and let’s just say that far too many series can’t seem to grasp that concept. The moment in which a great thing can become something that overstays its welcome is razor-thin.

And show creators Mickey Down and Konrad Kay have always been a duo with their finger on the pulse.

It’s contributed to Industry becoming such a massive success, with Industry Season 4 being one of its most critically acclaimed and record-breaking seasons yet. Amassing a 30% boost in viewership since the equally acclaimed Industry Season 3.

The duo made a joint announcement about the series’ fate and why they’re ending it on this note.

“We’re privileged to have joined the small, esteemed club of dramas that have run for five seasons on HBO. This March marks a decade since we first began to conceive of the world of ‘Industry’, and it exists because of the unwavering faith and vision of our partners and former partners at HBO — Casey, Frannie, Kara, Cela, Sam, Kathleen, and Max. Without Jane Tranter’s imagination and belief, the show would simply be a dead idea in a drawer somewhere. She — alongside her partners at Bad Wolf — has been our guiding light and fiercest champion. We’d also like to thank the BBC for their partnership.

“For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party. We’d like to thank our evangelical fan base, especially those who have watched from day one. Finally: we owe everything to our crew and the best cast on TV for making our writing live. The characters will live on because of their world class performances. Seeing the HBO ident in front of our work will never stop being a thrill. It remains the best place to make television, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration well into the future.”

Somebody, cue “When The Party’s Over,” please. Ugh.

But Industry is a series that has always had high risks and rewards, and it’s safe to say that, when it came to this series, both paid off.

It’ll be among some of HBO’s most critically acclaimed and successful long-running dramas.

It’ll be interesting to see just which stars will return for this fifth and final season. We can hopefully anticipate Myha’la and Marisa Abela.

Industry starts as a series that centers on the incomparable Harper Stern, and frankly, it’s a series that should end with her.

She’s shared the spotlight with Yasmin, with the two essentially being the only remaining people from their class of finance newbies who started at Pierpoint on their first day during Industry Season 1 Episode 1.

Given how Industry Season 4 Episode 7 ended, it nodded at the fact that, at the end of the day, it always goes back to Harper and Yasmin.

If these two don’t have anyone else, they have on another.

Given that we kick-started the season with Harper pairing up with her now scandal-ridden boss, Eric Tao (the legendary Ken Leung), and we’re not left with a Tao missing from SternTao’s little startup that could, one has to wonder if Yasmin’s name won’t be part of that company in no time.

Yasmin has joined forces with SternTao to bring ruin upon Tender, so Whitney (Max Minghella) can pay for it.

Although it has certainly backfired on Yasmin’s husband, Henry Muck (Kit Harington).

So, we’ll have to see if the fifth and final season will also include these characters, as well as Harper’s team inncluding Kwabena and Sweetpea, or if Industry will completely toss the board gameup in the air, scattering pieces everywhere, and build a final season that we cannot even begin to predict!

It’ll also be interesting to see if the final season brings back familiar faces and series staples, including Gus and Robert, or perhaps Jesse.

The possibilities are endless in Industry, but one thing the series consistently does is keep us glued to the screen for the wildest, most debauched, adrenaline-fueled, outrageous ride of our lives!

The season finale of Industry airs an hour earlier, this Sunday at 8/7c on HBO. We’ll have you covered!
