Hallmark is taking us on a yuletide voyage through time this season with A Newport Christmas, a glittering holiday fantasy that sails straight from 1905 into 2025 — and straight into our hearts.

Ella (Ginna Claire Mason) is a spirited Newport socialite who dreams of using her wealth to give back to her community.

But when she learns her father has arranged her engagement to a stranger, she does what any self-respecting Hallmark heroine would do — she hops on a boat and sails off to clear her head.

One shooting star later, she’s somehow drifted into the modern day … and right into the path of Nick (Wes Brown), a local historian who swears he owns the same schooner.

Cue the standoff, the confusion, and eventually, the kind of connection that makes time itself feel like it’s standing still.

When I sat down with Ginna Claire and Wes, it was clear this film was made for the dreamers among us — the history buffs, the romantics, and anyone who believes the right person can make every era feel like home.

Ginna Claire lit up talking about her character’s heart for philanthropy. “She’s ahead of her time, wanting to use her privilege to help others. That’s what makes her special.”

She laughed when I admitted 1905 wasn’t exactly my favorite era — “You don’t love the Gilded Age?” she teased — but her excitement made me see it differently.

Wes, who’s played his fair share of Hallmark heartthrobs, was quick to praise his co-star.

“Watching Ginna Claire wrestle with who she is and where she belongs — that was one of the most fun acting experiences I’ve ever had,” he said. “It’s shot beautifully, and it really is a unique story.”

The two even shared their own thoughts on time travel. Ginna Claire said she’d mainly go backward, but wouldn’t mind a quick peek 120 years into the future “just to see how things turned out.”

Wes? Firmly Team Past. “I’ll leave the future to the future,” he joked.

But what makes A Newport Christmas feel so timeless is its heart — the shared message of kindness, generosity, and family.

As Ginna Claire put it, “Some values transcend time. Kindness, slowing down, giving back — those are forever.”

And because no Hallmark interview is complete without a cozy personal touch, Ginna Claire shared her favorite family tradition: her dad has juggled oranges for her mom every year since they met at summer camp 50 years ago, and the family still finds an orange in each Christmas stocking.

Wes laughed, admitting, “I can’t follow that!” — though he’s releasing a new Christmas song, Timeless Christmas, with Ginna Claire, inspired by the movie itself.

Hallmark magic, a swoony sailor, a century-spanning love story, and a comet-powered wish? Yes, please!
