Ginny Miller has always strived not to be like her mother since Ginny & Georgia began. While she loves her mother fiercely, she never wanted to be as dysfunctional as Georgia.
Now that Georgia was arrested for killing Tom, all of her dirty secrets came to light.
While Ginny wanted others to know the truth about her mother, she always wanted them to see the sacrifices Georgia made for them.
Georgia Miller was a survivor, and she taught her children many lessons.
During Ginny & Georgia Season 3, viewers saw how much Ginny’s life choices modeled her mother’s.
Ginny and Marcus Proved that Exes Could Be Friends Despite What Georgia Thought
Like many children of divorced parents, Ginny originally hoped her parents would reunite. However, Georgia and Zion had such an on-and-off relationship that it was overwhelming for her and Austin.
Ginny & Georgia Season 3 showed how Georgia and the kids moved back in with Zion after running from Gil. Part of Ginny grew hopeful after seeing her parents kiss, but she couldn’t have nice things.
Her parents ran hot and cold. They had smoking chemistry and supported each other in a pinch like family, but didn’t work long-term.
Ginny swore she would never be like them, but she and Marcus are more like them than she thought.
Marcus is her best friend’s brother, so every time they broke up, it put Max in a tight spot, something Ginny should have been able to relate to.
But it was more than that. Marcus understood Ginny better than anyone and knew her past, much like Zion knew Georgia.
However, Georgia warned her daughter that exes couldn’t be platonic friends, insinuating she knew she was still the number one woman in Zion’s life.
Ginny tried to prove her mom wrong since she knew Marcus needed to focus on himself, and they did spend much of the season supporting each other as friends.
Most of their hugs and pep talks were innocent. However, they also experienced several rom-com moments, such as throwing paint at each other or Ginny’s “She’s All That” fairytale moment in a red dress.
Whether they stay friends or a couple, Ginny and Marcus’s dynamic showcases the importance of being friends. Showing up for one another was the essence of their bond, while the chemistry was nice.
Both of these relationships have changed. While Zion and Georgia may still be family in some ways, he doesn’t trust her as much, which could alter their close bond.
Even though Marcus loves Ginny, he needs this time in rehab to focus on himself and learn to like himself again before they can be together again.
I suspect Marcus and Ginny have a better chance of maintaining a close friendship no matter what, but I hope Zion and Georgia get back to that. Those relationships are the best part of the show.
When Ginny Became Pregnant, She Made a Wild Decision
I don’t think anyone expected Ginny to become pregnant this season, but she had a lot of emotional turmoil, including family drama and Marcus pushing her away.
She turned to Wolfe (Ty Doran) for fun and distraction, though having sex in the laundry room at a party probably wasn’t the best idea.
But I get it. Ginny needed to forget the outside world, and the consequences caught up. The timing was awful, too. Ginny wasn’t supposed to speak to Georgia, so she had to sneak in, and Wolfe’s reaction was insensitive.
While no teenage boy wants to hear they knocked up a girl, his reaction just screamed tacky. I’m relieved Ginny wanted her mom, and even more relieved she didn’t keep it.
While Georgia didn’t regret keeping Ginny, she wanted more for her daughter, including seeing the world and exploring love. Ginny shouldn’t be tied down to a boy she barely knew.
It was heartbreaking that Georgia couldn’t accompany Ginny because of her house arrest. No one should go through an abortion alone, physically or emotionally.
Thankfully, Georgia knew that Marcus would offer Ginny some emotional comfort and nonjudgmental support in her absence.
While Ginny has become similar to Georgia in many ways, I’m as relieved as Georgia that Ginny made a different decision.
It emphasized that Georgia was a loving and supportive mother who had a profound influence on her daughter.
Ginny Took the Us Against the World Mantra Too Far and Ended Up Hurting Austin
Georgia has always taught her children that the three of them were against the world. This was a sweet theory that they supported each other, but they were often isolated from one another.
Georgia ran whenever things got difficult. Granted, some of those times were from abusive or creepy men, and to protect her children, but it was difficult for Ginny and Austin.
They lacked stability, never had a long-term relationship with their fathers, and did not develop genuine friendships until they moved to Wellsbury.
As a woman, I would have wanted to protect Austin from Gil, too, but somehow, during Ginny & Georgia Season 3, Austin developed a bond with him.
I’m unsure whether Gil played Austin or genuinely loved his son, but Aaron Ashmore portrayed those layers beautifully.
Ginny didn’t trust Gil after he threatened to take Austin away and move to another state. She embodied her mother when she concocted a plan to save her mother and punish Gil, only it forced Austin to choose between his parents, which will likely haunt him.
While Ginny reunited her family, she would have to live with the responsibility of having separated her brother from his father, a decision she resented her mother for making for her at that age.
While I initially wished that Zion had taken custody of both children, we wouldn’t have had as much drama if he had.
Ginny would go to any lengths to protect her mother. She’s like Georgia in that way, but will it come back to haunt her next season?
