Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End fans had their own reason to celebrate this Fourth of July as Crunchyroll hosted a special panel for the hit fantasy anime during Anime Expo 2025. Held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown LA, the event unveiled the exclusive world premiere of Season 2’s first trailer and confirmed that the new season will simulcast on Crunchyroll starting January 2026, excluding Asia but including India and the Indian Subcontinent.
Fans were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the production during the panel, which featured Japanese voice actor Chiaki Kobayashi (Stark), producer Yuichiro Fukushi (One-Punch Man), and composer Evan Call (Violet Evergarden), each of whom spoke about their creative involvement and the excitement surrounding Season 2.
New Director, Returning Favorites
Producer Fukushi announced that Tomoya Kitagawa, who storyboarded and directed several key episodes in Season 1, will serve as director for Season 2. Season 1 director Keiichiro Saito (Bocchi the Rock!) will return as Supervising Director. Other returning and newly announced staff include:

About the Series
Based on the manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End is animated by Madhouse (Death Note, Trigun, OVERLORD). The story follows the elven mage Frieren as she grapples with the passage of time and the emotional legacy of her heroic journey.

Season 1 is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and is also available on Blu-ray via the Crunchyroll Store. The original manga is ongoing and available wherever manga is sold.
