Context

Chick-fil-A’s official X account hasn’t posted at all since 2022.

As LGBTQ+ Pride Month got under way in the U.S. in June 2026, a claim circulated online that fast-food chain Chick-fil-A wrote on X, “Respect for others does not require us to celebrate or endorse every message or movement.”

For example, on June 1, a Facebook page shared an alleged statement (archived) regarding the month-long celebration on the company’s X profile that read:

We are proud to protect our values and stay grounded in what we believe. Respect for others does not require us to celebrate or endorse every message or movement. We will not change who we are to appeal to the crowd, and we will not compromise our beliefs for approval. Our position is simple: we will remain respectful, but we will also remain true to our principles.

The alleged statement spread widely on Facebook (archived), but also circulated on X (archived) and Instagram (archived).

Snopes previously reported on the company’s purported message in April 2026.

In short, the rumor is fictional and the post is not a real statement from Chick-fil-A. It appeared to originate from Idisobey (archived), a Facebook page that shares fake social media posts attributed to notable figures. As a result, we’ve rated the post fake.

The post in question did not appear on the official @ChickfilA X account, as posts circulating online claimed. That account last posted in 2022.

A spokesperson from Chick-fil-A confirmed in April 2026 that the post was not from the company and that the X account it allegedly came from is inactive.

We used search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Google and Yahoo (archived, archived, archived) to locate the post on other Chick-fil-A accounts. Our searches returned no credible evidence that Chick-fil-A ever published the post in question.

We contacted a manager of the Idisobey Facebook page to ask why it had created the fake Chick-fil-A post without a disclaimer to note its inauthenticity. We will update this story if we receive any responses.

Chick-fil-A has had a checkered history with regard to LGBTQ+ rights. Remarks by CEO Dan Cathy in 2012 sparked controversy after Cathy said the company supported “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

In 2019, the company announced it would divert financial donations away from organizations that had received criticism for being anti-LGBTQ+. However, Snopes reported at the time that the funding changes also stopped donations to groups that had no religious affiliation and that the move did not appear to have been specifically targeted at Christian organizations perceived as anti-LGBTQ+.

As of this writing, the company had not posted about LGBTQ+ or Pride month on its Facebook (archived) or Instagram (archived) accounts in 2026. Posts on the company’s active Facebook  and Instagram accounts from June 2025 did not mention Pride or LGBTQ+.

For further reading, Snopes has previously investigated a number of rumors about Chick-fil-A.
