Characters have a way of sticking with you.

And that’s certainly happening with our Characters of the week in their respective seasons of these television shows.

From The Pitt to the Lincoln Lawyer, check out our full list!

Maggie – The Lincoln Lawyer

We still can’t stop thinking about The Lincoln Lawyer.

And that’s probably because The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 may be the best season to date.

While it’s no secret that Lorna was such a force to be reckoned with this season that she made it to our Characters of the Week last weekend, we’d be remiss if we didn’t shout out Maggie, too.

Because the fourth season actually put Maggie to great use, not just as this person who orbits around Mickey’s life, or the woman he pines over, or even occasionally as an antagonist, at least when he’s opposite of her in the courtroom.

No, this season gave us Maggie as a defense attorney going to bat for the man she still deeply cares about and the father of her children, and if there was anyone who ever had any doubts about what she offered to the series, this season proved she’s a gosh-damn force to be reckoned with!

Maggie had more depth and exuded more range this season than she had since the series began, emerging as one of the heroines of a stellar season and truly making us devoted fans.

Princess – The Pitt

(Warrick Page/HBO Max)

So much of The Pitt Season 2 Episode 6 felt like a love letter to nurses, truly shining a light on how instrumental they are to hospitals, just what they contribute as skilled individuals, and the never-ending well of humanity and compassion they exude.

While all the nurses shone throughout the hour, the person who stood out the most as the MVP of the episode was Princess.

She flitted from one case to the next, never once losing sight of the patient’s needs. And she made every interaction intimate, showing each patient kindness, tenderness, and care in the ways that they needed.

With a dying patient with cancer, she offered kind words and reassurance that subtly reminded her that she was not a burden on people who loved her. All the while giving a nice little nod to the simple, normal, perfectly human way she decompresses at the end of the day.

Because she’s not a superhero but merely a human who manages to do extraordinary things.

We also learned that she speaks six languages, and when the system failed a Deaf patient who was unable to communicate properly, Princess, with her rusty ASL, felt like a lifeline, at least able to offer some form of connection.

And her tenderness and awareness of her best friend, Perlah, after the loss of a patient was enough to move anyone to tears.

We’ve known Princess as the funny nurse who often gossips at the nurses’ station, but the hour really shone a spotlight on how incredible, multilayered, and inspiring she is as a nurse and a person.

David – It’s Not Like That

(Wonder Project/Screenshot)

The grip of addiction is something that’s difficult to work through, and It’s Not Like That perfectly spotlighted that when it came to David.

This is in reference to It’s Not Like That Season 1 Episode 4. We’ll have a full review of the latest episode soon!

Up until now, David had been hard to understand. He seems to have blown up his family and has spent a great deal of time trying to act like everything is going great, while those around him suffer.

But the hour gives us more perspective as he spirals from the revelation that his ex-wife and best friend shared a kiss.

We witnessed him fall off the wagon, as one drink turned to many, and his behavior affected those around him. It was heartbreaking when he tossed his two-year sobriety chips on the bar counter in front of the man who needled him to drink unbennowst of his addiction.

And then we saw him in AA, starting all over again, one day at a time. His ability to restart this process after his fall casts him in a new light and earns one’s respect.

But his resistance to Malcolm, recognizing that their relationship has completely changed, and he can’t deal with him the same way, was such an honest moment. It was genuinely great to see J.R. Martinez tap into more sides of David Soto.

Luz – Cross

(Prime Video/Screenshot)

No doubt Cross Season 2 is off to a strong start with a killer case that feels more prescient than ever.

But our serial killer isn’t just some twisted, misguided person serving their own desires, but a vigilante in search of justice, revenge, and retribution.

Luz is absolutely riveting — keeping you glued to the screen from the second she appears. She moves with purpose and intention, and it’s admirable if not for the fact that she’s killing people and chopping off fingers, too.

But it’s not just the righteous fury she embodies that makes her so intriguing; it’s also those softer moments, when, beyond her mission, you glimpse a grieving woman who has endured trauma she still hasn’t worked through.

Additionally, you see a fascinating display of a woman who feels like a lost child, longing to belong to a culture she holds dear yet remains unsettled within, searching for identity.

We’re only three episodes into Cross, and Luz is utterly fascinating, and Jeanine Mason is putting forth an impressive performance.

Harper – Industry

(Simon Ridgway/HBO)

It’s not often we get a real peek into the psyche of Harper Stern.

And that’s why Industry season 4 Episode 5 was such a rewarding hour. After learning that her mother died, we watched as she grieved the only way she knew how.

She buried herself into work, the high stakes of uncovering things with Tender, and then resorted to snapping at Eric when, ultimately, what is slowly revealed is that he’s the most twisted version of a stead parent figure that she has.

Hearing her speak about her relationship with her mom and twin brother was gutwrenching, and her taking it all in when Eric told her she was undeniable after a revealing proclamation that told us so much about her fierce, ruthless go-getter—ugh, it was magic.

The complexity of Harper, all she embodies, and how she manages her relationships also carried over into quiet scenes with Kwabena when she learned of his hookup, or into her attempts at comfort when Sweetpea returned.

We don’t have a PR machine or a million-dollar budget — we have you.
