What’s worse than losing your friend to murder on the day you win a literary award at the festival he hosts?

How about the best man dropping dead during a wedding you’re hosting in your own backyard? And that best man? A dear friend of your son’s. Welcome to Allie’s world, everyone!

Yes, Allie and Andi’s second case hits very close to home, but the location, while tragic, also provides an unexpected advantage.

The official logline of the latest episode of You’re Killing Me, titled “The Wedding,” says:

“While on her first day of work, Andi learns that Allie is hosting a wedding.

But before the engaged couple can tie the knot, someone drops dead. Suspecting foul play, Andie, Allie, and Jack set out to uncover the truth.”

Being a parent isn’t always sunshine and roses, but on the day of your son’s close friend’s wedding, is there any parent who wouldn’t want that day to transcend all the others?

But that’s the thing about cozy mysteries. The cozy part means that the main character will, more often than not, lose someone they already know.

That’s also why they work so well. Allie may write mysteries about Selena St. Cloud, but she’s not an actual investigator.

Andi has far more of that on her side, thanks to her true-crime sleuthing.

When you put them together, they’re a formidable crime-solving duo.

Allie uses her understanding of Founders Cove and its citizens, and Andi uses her deductive reasoning to solve the mystery.

In our exclusive clip, Allie is just unloading some of the stress and disappointment she feels on the wedding day onto Andi, and Andi doesn’t mind.

She is listening intently, and what she hears could be the key to solving the case.

Mothers know more than their kids realize, and keeping those secrets to themselves gives kids autonomy while still allowing mom to keep a watchful eye on everything.

In case of emergency (and a dead best man fits that bill), those kept secrets can become invaluable.

Do we have any doubt that this exciting new cross-generational duo will save the day, and possibly more lives?

No, we do not!

What we do know is that we’ll enjoy every moment of their journey to get there.

Be sure to return to TV Fanatic on Monday (Memorial Day? Already??) for our review of You’re Killing Me Season 1 Episode 2.

Now, check out the exclusive clip to find out what Allie knows that can help and how Andi realizes how helpful that knowledge really is!

This is Brooke Shields at her comedic best, and Amalia Williamson is the perfect foil and friend for her. You can read more this afternoon when we share the conversation we had with them this week.

Don’t miss it when it drops on Acorn TV on Monday, May 25!

Netflix’s The Crash revisits the horrifying Mackenzie Shirilla case, but its angling for viral discourse, spectacle, and manufactured nuance leaves the documentary as infuriating as it is unsettling.

  • Chicago PD’s Character-Centric Format Is Killing the Series

Chicago PD’s character-centric format is severely impacting the series and stripping it of what we love most. Season 13 highlights this flaw.
